Windex Windows of Opportunity

Windex has a brand has always believed in the power of natural light – the very thing clean windows let in. But as clean windows faded into functional irrelevance, the brand saw an opportunity to go deeper: to reawaken people to the essential role natural light plays in our well-being, especially for children. Through the Windows of Opportunity project, Windex reached over 12 million people with this message and sparked lasting change—transforming the learning environment at Eisenhower Elementary and positively impacting generations of students to come.

Idea

Windex found Eisenhower Elementary—a school built in the late 60s without windows. Nearly 20,000 students and staff had spent over 50 years without access to natural light. The brand reached out to the school district and proposed adding natural light through the installation of windows, resulting in Windex becoming part of the school’s mission to improve student well-being.

With the help of Windex, Eisenhower was transformed by cutting 70 floor-to-ceiling windows into its solid walls. By August 2024, students returned to a school filled with light. Moved by the impact and the overwhelming response—Windex has committed to adding more windows to windowless school classrooms. The brand is now working with daylight experts and seeking partners to expand its reach. Windex has evolved beyond cleaning glass. It’s on a mission to help bring natural light to windowless classrooms so children can have a brighter future.
